Job Summary:
We are looking for an applicant with experience working with crime victims preferably prosecution based advocacy. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree, superior customer service skills, positive attitude, and a strong sense of responsibility to the community at large. Fluent in Spanish/English (Bilingual) is a plus.
Provides assistance to victims of crimes: contacts victim by phone, letter or field visits; completes intake forms; determines and evaluates victim experiences and needs; makes referrals and recommendations regarding counseling, safety needs, housing, food and other needs; explains and provides information and assistance regarding criminal justice processes, victim's rights, victim notification of custody status changes and case information, temporary protective orders, bond conditions, compensation and restitution programs; individualized safety plans; remains in contact with the victim throughout their case and provides updates and support; and provides crisis intervention as needed.
Duties:
- Offer emotional support and crisis intervention to victims of crime or trauma
- Assist victims in understanding their rights within the legal system
- Provide information on available resources and services for victims
- Accompany victims to court proceedings, medical appointments, and other necessary meetings
- Advocate on behalf of victims to ensure their needs are met
- Collaborate with law enforcement, social services, and other agencies to coordinate services for victims
Requirements:
Associate's Degree in Social Work or related field required; two years of experience in criminal
justice, law enforcement, social justice, or related field; or any equivalent combination of
education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities
for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s
license.
