The Night Ministry is a Chicago based organization whose mission is to provide human connection, housing support, and health care to members of our community who are unhoused or experiencing poverty.
We've successfully provided these lifesaving services for 45 plus years, everyday providing a lifeline to our most vulnerable neighbors. The Safety Coordinator will work closely with our CTA outreach staff ensuring a safe and secure working space for all those serving at the site. The Night Ministry works closely with the CTA on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the Howard Red Line station and Forest Park Blue Line station. Support the mission and goals of The Night Ministry by providing a safe environment and trauma informed de-escalation when required.

Leads non-violent crisis responses with cultural sensitivity for trauma-experienced individuals.

Assists in verbal de-escalation using approved crisis intervention methods.

Maintains strict client confidentiality.

Enforces CTA station regulations for premises, personnel, and visitors.

Protects TNM assets against theft, assault, and safety hazards.

Can stand for extended periods and remains vigilant.

Maintains communication with leadership and reports emergencies promptly.

Escorts staff as requested and assists with supply setup and distribution.

Travels to outreach settings as needed.

Participates in required internal and external training.

Attends departmental, agency, and inter-agency meetings as available.

Performs other assigned tasks.

Minimum 2 years' safety experience.

Available for late afternoon to late night shifts on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Holds a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal transportation.
