Electronic Technician (US) Job description

The company develops and runs downhole tools for various sealing applications in oilwells including P&A. We deliver to all phases of the well’s life drilling & completion, through tubing intervention, water & gas management and the final Plug and Abandonment.
We are now seeking to hire an electronic technician to work in our Houston facility.
Apply only if you have Experience with Downhole logging tools, E line tools Maintenance, soldering on SMT and THT electronics, preferably on downhole tools. Embedded SW knowledge is a plus.
Summary of Role and Function:
The electronic technician is responsible for mounting and testing assemblies and sub-assemblies according to established production quality standards and engineering specifications. The ideal candidate must have a high mechanical and electronical aptitude and should be familiar with a wide array of electrical/mechanical components and hardware. Environmental health & safety rules.
The technician must closely work with supervisors and leads to ensure projects are produced within specification and on time. The ideal candidate will be lifted into the development team environment and be able to give guidance to other team members.
Job description:
- Comprehension of general layout of mechanical and electrical tool plan drawings.
- Perform hand soldering on small parts including wire, cable, connector, PCB and various other components.
- Hi temp soldering, on downhole tools.
- Mount boards in chassis insert wire leads, using hand tools.
- Adhere to company practices regarding safety and control of electrostatic discharge (ESD).
- Contribute to improving working procedures and building techniques.
- Refurbished used tools, re-test all functions.
- Contribute to fault findings and failure investigations.
- Lithium battery handling and installation in tool.
- Keep work areas and equipment clean.
- Take responsibility for planning own work to meet production and schedule requirements.
Qualifications:
- High School/Trade School/Vocational School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in soldering within manufacturing industry can compensate for formal education.
- Knowledge of soldering materials and techniques.
- Familiarity with IPC workmanship standards, use of ESD precautions.
- Good reliability and attendance.
- Must have good attention to details and basic computer skills.
- 3+ years of experience in an Oil & Gas maintenance is preferred, other electronic repair jobs will compensate.
- Some mechanical assembly experience (familiar with Down Hole electronic packaging, o rings seals, threads etc.)
- Strong HSE ethics.
- Self-starter and self-motivated, ability to mentor other less senior technicians.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
