Job Overview:
Westridge Middle School/OCPS is seeking a passionate and experienced Middle Science Instructional Coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide leadership, support, and coaching to middle school science teachers to improve instructional practices, enhance student engagement, and increase academic achievement in science. This role requires a deep understanding of middle school science curriculum, effective teaching strategies, and the ability to mentor and collaborate with educators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Coaching: Provide one-on-one and group coaching to middle school science teachers, focusing on effective instructional strategies, classroom management, and student engagement.
- Professional Development: Design and deliver professional development sessions, workshops, and training for science teachers to support curriculum implementation and instructional improvement.
- Curriculum Support: Assist in the development, alignment, and implementation of science curriculum, ensuring it meets district standards and state requirements.
- Data Analysis: Analyze student performance data to identify areas of need and develop action plans to address those needs. Support teachers in using data to inform instruction.
- Collaborative Planning: Facilitate and participate in collaborative planning sessions with science teachers to develop lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials.
- Resource Management: Identify and share instructional resources, including digital tools and materials, to enhance science teaching and learning.
- Mentoring: Serve as a mentor and support system for new and experienced science teachers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Observation and Feedback: Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers, promoting reflective practices and instructional refinement.
- Community Engagement: Collaborate with parents, community members, and other stakeholders to promote science education and support student learning.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification: Valid teaching certification in middle school science. Instructional coaching certification is a plus - Completion of OCPS Facilitative Coaching Series required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in middle school science. Prior experience as an instructional coach or in a leadership role is preferred.

- Strong knowledge of middle school science curriculum and best instructional practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to drive instructional decisions.
