The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department and is responsible for coaching and mentoring accounting staff and participating amongst the leadership team. Works closely with accounting team to support financial processes and ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis.
Job Duties:
Oversight of month-end close processes
- Mange the month-end close process to ensure accounting staff meet month-end deadlines.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, etc. in connection with the month-end close process.
- Provide advice and resolutions to issues or challenges that arise.
Financial reporting and analysis
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements.
- Review monthly financial statements and reports.
- Analyze monthly financial statements and reports.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights into the company’s financial performance and provide recommendations as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting for physician compensation models.
Budgeting and forecasting
- Assist with the development, management and collaboration of budgets and forecasts.
Accounts Payable
- Review weekly invoices and check runs.
- Approve weekly check and ACH payments.
- Reconcile AP reports to general ledger.
Preparing and processing payroll
- Prepare payroll and process payroll.
- Review quarterly reporting from 3rd party payroll processor to accuracy.
- Prepare and enter payroll journal entries into the general ledger.
- Process special payroll checks as requested.
Work with outside CPA to file accurate and timely federal and state tax returns
File monthly, quarterly and annual returns
- Sales & Use tax, payroll taxes, W2’s, 1099 returns, benefits, franchise taxes (if applicable)
Financial controls
- Review and improve financial processes, policies and procedures, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement best practices.
Team management and development
- Manage accounting department staff.
- Assign tasks and projects and ensure completion.
- Mentor and train staff.
Is an active member of the management team further promoting the mission of the organization throughout all departments.
