The purpose of the Teacher Aide position is to support school teachers and staff in providing a safe and secure environment for all faculty, staff and students.
The Teacher Aide responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Assist in monitoring safety of students
- Assist in gathering and escorting students to class
- Write daily reports as needed
- Monitor activity in hallways both during and between class times
- Supervise interactions among students and intervene to de-escalate a potential conflict
- Provide crisis prevention and intervention where appropriate
- Respond to crisis or emergency situations that may occur
- Escort students to other campus destinations
- Follow students in elopement or AWOL situations

- Become familiar with and contribute to building routines and activities
- Act as a role model and exhibit a positive courteous attitude at all times
- Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times, practicing good judgment
- Have good attendance and work flexibly within the assigned school and tasks
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the job
- Ability and willingness to learn from training – especially Therapeutic Conflict Intervention Certification
QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum qualifications required for a Teacher Aide position are either graduation from high school, or possession of a New York Statehigh school equivalency diploma. A Teacher Aide should also have some combination of experience and training sufficient to indicate ability to do the required work.
Salary: $20.00 per hour.
