Adept Life Sciences is a manufacturer of dietary supplements for leading national and global nutritional brands.
The Controller will drive the day-to-day accounting processes, internal controls, job costing, and financial reporting for the company and its stakeholders. As a member of our leadership team, they need to possess strong organization, analytical, technology and communication skill. Additionally, have the ability to work well with the management team involving internal cost accounting, management reporting, and cycle count/inventory.
Technical Responsibilities:
Oversee the accounting related to manufacturing in compliance with GAAP
Manage the daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting functions ensuring the accuracy of information on all financial statements, annual budget preparation, lead the inventory cycle count verify the asset inventory, and coordinating year-end audit activities
Responsible for review of transaction and cost accuracy across all database functions
Conduct ongoing audit of transactional and master records for accuracy, workflow qualifications and overall cost impact
Provide business analysis, forecasting and budgeting for the manufacturing organization Responsible for making recommendations for financial and operational improvements
Responsible for developing and analyzing cost-of-goods information
Performing periodic costing studies on products/equipment
Ensure that production Work Orders by product SKUs are fully burdened with appropriate costs in compliance with corporate cost model, and the regular investigation, resolution, and reporting of actual-to-standard variances
Maintain and make recommendations to improve our system of internal accounting controls as they relate to inventory and manufacturing
Work within NetSuite ERP system and lead efforts to recommend and implement any expansions or changes to this system for finance, job costing, inventory, and reporting
Responsible for developing ERP and process training curriculum, assessing where gaps exist and conducting training for ongoing continuous improvement
Manage vendor credit terms and limits, as well as corporate credit rating within D&B
Responsible for ongoing continuous improvement of accounting and administrative functions
Analyst Responsibilities:
Analyze actual data to estimates and forecasts to support operational improvements.
Assist in efforts to implement a new ERP system (NetSuite)
Management Responsibilities:
Form strong working relationships and become a trusted adviser to the Operations team
Provide leadership and direction, developing workload assignments, monitoring activities, training, and motivating accounting staff to perform at highest level
Responsible for documentation of processes, systems, internal controls, and reviews against ‘Best Practices’ for operations, warehousing, distribution, and administration
Passionate about coaching and training the team; effective at setting individual and team goals which help develop team member
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's required
- Master’s degree in Accounting/MBA preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with specific experience in cost accounting is required for no less than 3 years is requires
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP as it applies to a manufacturing environment is required
- Knowledge of accounting statements and financial reporting experience in a ERP environment is strongly encouraged
- Excellent analytic skills. Excel-based modeling with strong computer skills are also required
- Ability to operate both strategically (big picture) and operationally (small picture) is expected
- Must interact well in a team environment and demonstrate interpersonal relations by displaying a positive customer service attitude.

Pay: $120,000.00 per year
