Weingart Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency headquartered in Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) providing services to individuals experiencing homelessness, is hiring a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT to handle daily maintenance of the general ledger and other finance and budgeting tasks. The Senior Accountant supports the Controller with general ledger account management, financial reporting, budgeting, and assisting with other duties such as accounts payable. This position will require a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail as well as creative and strategic thinking.
Weingart Center requires position incumbent to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by CDC.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Detailed knowledge of accounting, including making adjustments in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger on a computerized accounting system.
- Ability to perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy, and ability to make difficult mathematical computations.
- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and technical or legal terminology.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, a variety of government employees and management.
- Ability to type at a speed of at least 30 words per minute with a high degree of accuracy required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Two to five years’ experience in accounting (general ledger, journal entries and financial statements) and bank reconciliation.
- Non-profit accounting experience highly preferred
- Real estate industry accounting experience a plus.
- Excellent working knowledge and experience in the use of Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Excel, and other spreadsheet and accounting software/word processing.
- Experience in affordable housing real estate is highly preferred
