B. Coleman Aviation, LLC, a full service FBO located on the Gary/Chicago
International Airfield, is looking for a Line Service Technician at our B. Coleman
Aviation facility. This candidate will perform duties as outlined below. Be on the ground floor of a rapidly growing aviation enterprise, where there is great opportunity for professional growth and future advancement. Candidates must be able to obtain an airport badge (passing a background check) and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Duties and responsibilities
- Fuel aircraft in accordance with ATA specifications 103 and NFPA 407 quality control standards.
- Greet, park, tow, and marshal aircraft arriving or departing ramp area, provide services as requested by flight crew.
- Insure aircraft are chocked, locked and secured.
- Facilitate aircraft lavatory and potable water services.
- Assist pilots with aircraft pre- and post-flight services.
- Top off fuel trucks and fill out proper fuel farm paperwork.
- Obey and implement any safety, quality control, and emergency procedures.
- Operate ground support equipment.
- Provide shuttle service for passengers and crew and assist with baggage and cargo.
- Assist other departments as required including customer service needs, facility cleaning, and other tasks as assigned.
- Follow basic security procedures to safely secure and escort people and property.
- Direct people, drivers and flight crews on ramp area.
- Operate fork lift; loading and unloading aircraft.
- Other duties and tasks as required.
Qualifications
- One (1) year aviation experience preferred.
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
- Pass FAA Drug and Alcohol testing, background checks and submit to random testing.
- Complete NATA Safety First, B. Coleman Aviation and other job-related training.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) highly desired.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- General, commercial or military aviation experience highly desired.
Working conditions
Must be available to work flexible hours including overtime when required.
Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks including but not limited to: maintaining equipment, cleaning facility, washing vehicle(s), cleaning aircraft and vacuuming.
Physical requirements
- Stepping up/down on ladders, lifts, tugs and fuel trucks.
- Lifting baggage from ground level to waist and overhead while loading aircraft, up to 75lbs.
- Bending and stooping to pick up tow bars and other equipment.
- Stooping below wings to chock aircraft.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time, running when required.
