The Illinois Department of Agriculture's Division of Cannabis Regulation is growing and seeks qualified candidates to ensure the success of this developing area. Under the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act the Department of Agriculture (IDOA) will
issue up to 40 craft grower licenses, up to 40 infuser licenses, and an unlimited number of transporter licenses. Under the Compassionate use of Medical Cannabis Program Act, IDOA was charged with registering and regulating up to 22 cultivation centers allowed in the law. The Administrative Assistant II position will provide the professional human resources and administrative support necessary for the Division to successfully fulfill its mission. The Department is tasked with licensing and regulating adult use cultivation centers, cannabis craft growers, cannabis infusers, cannabis transporters, and Community College Vocational Cannabis Pilot Programs. "The Pritzker Administration is committed to creating a fair and equitable adult-use cannabis industry in Illinois. IDOA is helping achieve that goal by providing Illinois residents, specifically those who live in communities that were disproportionately impacted by the failed war on drugs, with multiple entry-points to this new industry." Interprets, explains, implements, and monitors human resources procedures, policies, laws and regulations.

Compiles employee time and payroll data from time reports and other records.

Coordinates workflow to and from Division’s Manager’s office, working with all Division staff to complete work in a timely manner.

Keyboards and formats drafts of proposed amendments and regulation changes to the laws enforced and/or administered by the Division including The Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act, The Industrial Hemp Act, The Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Program Act, The Community College Cannabis Vocation Pilot Program.

Reviews applications for licenses and permits, registration forms, variance forms, modification requests, alteration requests, permit renewals, and changes of ownership.

Attends various meetings and seminars to keep informed about current rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business, public administration.

Requires two years of professional experience in a public or private organization.
- Prefers extensive knowledge of public and business administration, principles, and practices.

Prefers extensive knowledge of agency policies and procedures.

Prefers experience with developing and managing a supportive agency program.

Prefers experience with to analyzing administrative problems and adopt an effective course of action.

Prefers experience with to developing, installing and evaluating new and revised methods, procedures, and performance standards.
