Job Summary
With moderate supervision and familiarity and understanding of landscape, hardscape and irrigation construction, the Project Engineer provides administrative support and assists with project management efforts as comprehensive construction projects transition from estimation to construction.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders regarding awarded projects and attends meetings to develop a clear understanding of projects.
- Maintains electronic project files to ensure records are updated and accessible.
- Reviews and quantifies changes to bid plans and develops cost impact/estimates of changes.
- Utilizes project management software to execute various tasks and ensure critical steps are complete.
- Manages the flow and maintenance of documents including but not limited to, engineering calculations, permits, plans, quotes, work orders, change orders, etc.
- Assists with processing and executing preliminary project steps required to advance the project.
- Meets regularly with operational and financial teams to track changes to scope of work and project completion percentage.
- Facilitates project transition from construction to maintenance and then project close.
Experience and Education Requirements
- Knowledge of irrigation, construction and landscape as normally obtained through a bachelor’s degree in horticulture, construction or the Green Industry is required. Commensurate experience may substitute for a degree.
- Minimum 2 years of experience reviewing bid documents and developing estimates in a construction or similar industry is required.
- Experience navigating and utilizing construction estimation software is required.
- An internship in construction is strongly preferred.
- The ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications to prepare estimates and submittals.
- The ability to effectively use technology to set up and track projects as described is necessary. This includes competency with Microsoft Windows Suite, including Excel, and Word.
- Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license and be insurable on the Company’s auto insurance policy.
