1. Obtains equipment, materials and supplies from storage areas and positions them appropriately for use. Assembles and disassembles equipment or accessories and assists in adapting equipment for patients.
2. Prepares equipment such as hydrotherapy tanks, paraffin bath and hot packs, by filling tanks, checking and adjusting temperature controls and setting automatic timing devices.
3. Assists in routine treatment procedures and other therapeutic activities including but not limited to hydrocolator pack, whirlpool and infra-red, range of motions tests, progressive restive exercises and general conditioning exercise programs under direct supervision of licensed Physical Therapist.
4. Assists therapists to position patient in, at or on equipment, devices or treatment tables, and by showing, aiding and working with patients in hospitals or treatment centers designed to accomplish rehabilitation. Observes patients undergoing therapeutic exercises and other types of treatment.
5. Assists in providing prescribed treatment through use of hand and/or equipment. Adjusts wheelchair, braces, crutches and canes.
6. Prepares, maintains, and clears up treatment areas and maintains supportive areas.
7. Assists in self-help therapy and aids patients to walk or uses wheelchair or stretcher to transfer patients to and from wards or waiting room before and after treatments.
8. Transports patient to treatment or activity areas and assists patients in preparations at end of treatment or activity.
9. Participates in supportive and maintenance treatment programs including assisting patients with daily living chores.
10. Participates in program of activity involving routine and repetitive subprofessional work in recreation therapy and/or in orientating patients in necessary skills for reinforcing daily living in appropriate therapy areas.
11. Guides patients in activities including but not limited to arts and crafts, social activities, gardening, woodworking, graphic arts, textiles, group recreation and the utilization of various tools and equipment and assists in developing interest and maintaining morale.
12. Observes patient’s activities and makes reports.
13. May perform functions and activities of the basic Nurse’s Aide in support of the above tasks.
