Eden II Programs is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team! The candidate will be the go-to RN for our Residential programs. Eden II has 7 residences on Staten Island. The candidate will have a case load of 25 residents or less and will cover up to 3 residences.
About Us: Eden II is a non-profit organization that helps individuals with autism in Staten Island and Long Island. Our mission is to help people reach their full potential through various services such as early childhood centers, family support services, adult day habilitation, and residential services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date health files and medical to-go packets on all participants.
- Provide notices on the front cover of participant’s records of any physical, medical or other restrictions staff needs to be aware of.
- Remain audit ready by adhering to all OPWDD regulations regarding resident medical care.
- Assist consulting physicians in routine or emergency examinations as requested.
- Coordinate with clinical staff in monitoring the general health and safety standards used and applied with the residence.
- Ensure all medical administration records are accurate for the monthly turn over and in accordance with applicable regulations and general safe practices.
- Ensure all medical orders and issues are followed to resolution
- Maintain communication between doctor and pharmacy regarding medication directives.
- Review Medical Consults and implement follow up plan per the Doctors orders
- Provide staff trainings on Eden II Policies and Protocols relating to health and safety
- Review and monitor bowel protocols and direct interventions as required
- Ensure all medical orders and follow up recommendations are completed in a timely fashion
- Administer medically prescribed medications and maintain the medical cabinet with all medically approved and in date medications, supplies and equipment.
- Utilizing the Nursing Process, provide routine nursing assessment and care to participants and perform other nursing duties as assigned.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and activities.
- Provide oversight of DSPs in the areas of resident participation health and medical administration.
Qualifications:
- Licensed and Registered in the state of New York as an RN in good standing.
- Experience working with developmental disabilities, specifically autism.
- Valid driver license preferred.
Work Hours:
Monday - Friday: 9am to 5pm (must be willing to be On-Call for urgent medical issues and/or injury assessments as needed)
Supervision Received:
Director of Nursing/ Director of Residential Services/ Associate Executive Director
Supervision Exercised:
Direct Support Professional- Clinic Liaison
Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform approved SCIP techniques
- Assist in all fire safety drills and procedures- when required
- Assist in all daily living activities-if necessary to ensure proper technique
- Administer medications as required
- Transportation of/accompany participants to and from all appointments-when required
- Evaluate participants for any injuries and/or illnesses

- Can handle stressful situations that arise as a result of participant behaviors (physical, verbal, etc.)
- Ability to handle on call availability and medical emergencies

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
