Support the North American R&D Center, by conducting Computer Aided Engineering simulations to assess component/BIW/Vehicle performance against regulatory and non-regulatory crash requirements. Suggest cost effective, weight optimized technical solutions to achieve structural requirements according to the needs of the customer. All aspects of CAE are required; such as meshing, joining, job submission, de-bugging and post processing. Present technical report, including conclusion and recommendations to the customer.
Build & conduct numerical validation of components, sub-assemblies and full vehicles in designated crash tests (i.e. USNCAP / IIHS).
Suggest technical solutions to improve product design, with focus on cost reduction, mass reduction and crash performance optimization.
Promote Gestamp innovative light-weighting solutions
Stay current by understanding emerging materials and advanced technologies.
Ensure client timing and performance criteria are met.
Interact with OEM, and present technical portions of the proposals/concepts.
Prepare technical reports, describing analysis and formulating conclusion and recommendations.
Participate in internal R&D activities (material laws, in-sheet failure, spot-weld failure, modeling techniques, innovative materials, etc.).
Train and support new R&D team in North America, the Gestamp CAE methodologies.
