Position Summary
The Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) is responsible for complying with physician orders as delegated by the licensed Nurse and for providing direct resident care. The Geriatric Nursing Assistant establishes and maintains an environment that is therapeutic for residents. In conjunction with other members of the interdisciplinary team, develops and implements individualizes care plans with special emphasis on the rehabilitative , physical and social desires and needs of each resident.
Key Functions
- Take and record weights and vital signs as assigned.
- Assist residents in maintaining all activities of daily living (personal hygiene, bathing, skins care, dressing, toileting, transfers, etc.)
- Pass meal trays and assist residents as needed with meals, feed if required.
- Answer call bells in a timely manner and safety rounds, as required.
- Keep resident’s room(s) and service areas clean, orderly and safe.
- Distribute and change linens as needed.
- Communicate change in resident condition to licensed staff.
- Complete health records and shift reports
Education and Experience
- Must possess High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must possess Maryland State G.N.A. certification (required)
- Minimum of 6 months previous experience in a GNA is desired but not required
- Must be CPR Certified
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment, required
We offer the following schedule opportunities:
- Night Shift: 11:00pm - 7:00am
- Evening Shift: 3:00pm - 11:00pm
- Every other Weekend: 7:00am - 3:00pm
- Every other Weekend: 3:00pm - 11:00pm
