Position Summary: The Value Stream Engineer will facilitate and support continuous improvement culture for the facility. They will evaluate current business practices, looking for ways to improve productivity, reduce costs, and make the best use of the organization’s resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Guide and facilitate the development of the facility’s operational excellence production system.

Work with leadership to define and refine key performance indicators (KPI’s) and continuous improvement targets applying lean management principles and tools.

Coordinate continuous improvement savings initiatives, leading the operational excellence approach sustaining results via standard work generation and training with the ultimate goal of reducing order fulfillment cycle time.

Analyze existing processes, workflows, and systems to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies through data analysis.

Collaborate with other department leaders to define areas of opportunity to eliminate non-value added activity. Identifies areas of improvement in line efficiency, safety, quality, cost, processes, and personnel.

Utilize process mapping and value stream analysis tools to plan space requirements, equipment layout, and workflow patterns.

Communicate recommendations for changes, prepare cost justifications, manage capital expenses as needed and coordinate the design and development of new processes, systems, equipment, or materials.

Conduct and analyze time and motion studies to ensure optimal product flow.

Facilitate and support Kaizen events to drive sustainable improvements.

Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Provide continuous improvement training and coaching at all levels of the organization.

Report on project process to the appropriate leadership levels.

Ensure Standardized Work is defined, followed, and quickly identify any abnormalities.

Lead and coordinate the Lean Manufacturing initiative of the company.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and align engineering efforts with broader company goals and initiatives.

Develop and implement lean engineering strategies, goals, and objectives.

Keep the operation up to date with industry trends and advancements in engineering technology.

Identify, implement, and promote technology to improve efficiency, productivity and reduce cost.
Skills & Qualifications:

BS in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 2 years operational experience/continuous improvement role.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred.

Experience being a change agent leading complex transformational activities.

Proficient with Lean principles like Kaizen, 5S, and value stream mapping methodologies.

Knowledge of process improvement tools like Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and waste identification techniques.

Demonstrate project management experience by having successfully managed and completed a large, complex engineering project.

Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Excellent verbal and written communications that allows the effective flow of complex value stream analysis findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.

Effective coaching and mentoring skills/ability to achieve results through others.

Able to interpret and analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Able to problem-solve relevant to value stream analysis which may include calculations related to cycle time, lead time, capacity planning, and basic statistical analysis.

Able to apply critical thinking skills to identify issues with value stream processes.

Proficient in basic computer skills and familiarity with manufacturing software used for value stream mapping, data analysis, and process improvement tools.

Experience with project management methodologies to oversee value stream improvement initiatives.
