About us:
Avail Solutions was founded in 1999 and is a 24/7 behavioral health crisis hotline with two locations in Texas (Tyler and Corpus Christi). We contract with community agencies to provide professional, quality mental health services to callers in need of crisis support, mental health or substance use intake services, or emergency outreach screenings.
The Crisis Worker position:
As a Crisis Worker, you will work from our call center and receive inbound calls from individuals needing crisis intervention due to suicidal/homicidal risk, psychosis, or severe deterioration. A screening is conducted on each call and if risk is present, steps are taken to ensure the individual’s safety; in the absence of risk, supportive listening and coping strategies are offered. In addition to answering the crisis line, the Crisis Worker also provides emergency outreach screenings from our call center via televideo to individuals located at the hospital, jail, or police department who are an imminent risk or experiencing psychosis and in possible need of hospitalization. (Training provided.)
What we are looking for:
The Crisis Worker must be able to utilize rapport building, demonstrate empathy, and maintain professional communication during the crisis call. As these calls are documented electronically, the Crisis Worker must also demonstrate professional writing skills. Our priority is being able to attend to the callers quickly, therefore, in order to minimize disruption to crisis hotline operations, attendance and punctuality are of utmost importance.
