For over three decades, we have provided free commercial flights to critically ill children and their families who need access to life-changing medical treatment unavailable in their local communities. We give roughly 700 free flights to families throughout the United States monthly. Our mission is more than about providing a plane ticket. It's about offering hope to those who thought they had none.
Job Description:
This is a high-visibility role, developing relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders, including Board Members, existing donors, and community partners. As the Money Raising Gurus, you bring a wealth of experience with individual fundraising in the non-profit sector. You have actively managed and grown a donor pool and secured six-, seven--, and eight-figure gifts, and you are eager to build a diverse portfolio of supporters for Miracle Flights. Working in a collaborative management culture, the Money Raising Guru reports directly to the CEO.
This position is based in our Las Vegas headquarters and requires occasional travel. Executive compensation for this role includes a competitive, performance-based compensation package and a generous benefits program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Raise money. Create Corporate Partnerships.
- Cultivate and maintain new and existing relationships to build Miracle Flights' visibility, impact, and financial resources locally and nationwide.
- Grow a large and diversified donor base to create sustained, long-term growth.
- Design annual development plans with solid yet ambitious fundraising goals and clear plans for execution, including personally cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and prospective funders.
- Leads the development of an innovative, balanced funding mix of donor sources and solicitation programs tailored to the organization's needs that will attract, retain, and motivate donors.
- Designs and delivers cost-effective fundraising programs while maintaining high quality and demonstrable return on investment.
- Forecasts and achieves annual goal setting, strategy and tactics identification, benchmarking, and evaluation of fundraising work.
- Ensures sound fiscal operation of fundraising function, including comprehensive, timely, and accurate settlement of donations to revenue and expense budgets, reporting, monitoring, variance analysis, and implementation. Prepares accurate and timely summary of revenues, expenses, and net income.
- Regularly evaluates the effect of internal and external forces on the organization and its fund development, implements short-and long-range plans and programs that support the organization's mission, vision, core values, and strategic goals.
- Coordinates with the grant writing staff to ensure the development of grant submissions to foundations, corporations, governmental agencies, and other potential funders.
- Ensures design and maintenance of donor, volunteer, and prospect records, gift management systems, and informational reports.
- Develop a legacy program and identify and cultivate planned gifts.
- Displays leadership through departmental management and develops cohesive and collaborative relationships throughout the community. Directs development team to create fundraising and marketing strategies, grant development, and meet annual fundraising goals. Expand the development team as necessary.
- Manage and mentor the development team. Encourage a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and commitment to quality by setting and modeling high standards through regular performance feedback, career development opportunities, and performance and development goals.
- Develops measurable performance metrics, monitors results, and regularly briefs leadership on the effectiveness of the organization's fund development strategies.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: ("MUST HAVES" ):
- Not afraid to ask someone for a check!
- 10-plus years of progressively responsible development, fundraising, and philanthropy experience within the non-profit and community development sectors; demonstrated track record of cultivating significant individual and corporate donors.
- Extensive knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the Miracle Flights mission.
- Local, regional, and national network of potential donors.
- Superior communications, presentation, relationship management, listening, networking, negotiating, influencing, and persuasiveness skills.
- Superior management skills: influencing and engaging direct and indirect reports and peers.
- Excellent relationship-building skills and ability to engage and influence diverse groups/individuals.
- Strategic thinking and planning skills.
- Ability to recruit, manage, lead, and motivate the work of employees and volunteers.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PP, etc.
- Occasional travel to other markets.
- May require occasional evening and weekend work.

Job Type: Full-time: 40 hours a week with availability for occasional nights and weekends.
Salary: Generous, experienced-based compensation.
