Certified Nursing Assistants needed for a full time long term contract opportunity with Yoh’s health client located in Decatur, GA 30033.
Nursing Assistants (NA) provide a vital role assisting the licensed nurses providing direct patient care for patients in the medical center. In addition, they have proven their value in providing a pool of one-to-one special observers for “at risk” patients.
Top Skills You Should Possess:
- Current CNA certification from any state (United States), and a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate accredited by the American Heart Association
- Two (2) yeas minimum experience working in skill
- Must have worked within the last six months in skill set - Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certification/License or Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) certification/license will be acceptable in lieu of a Nursing Assistant certification.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Performs a range of personal nursing care which includes feeding, walking, lifting, turning patients, providing related hygiene care to patients using specialized equipment receiving oxygen or suction therapy.
- Performs a range of diagnostic support duties which includes taking, recording and reporting to the nurse deviations in vital signs and change in patients’ condition such as diabetic, uremic coma, insulin shock, gastro-intestinal hemorrhage and reporting them to the nurse or doctor.
- Assists the doctor in a variety of diagnostic examinations such as lumbar punctures, liver biopsy, bone marrow examinations and emergency procedures.
- Assembles necessary equipment and positions patients, collects, labels and transports specimens to laboratory.
- Checks patients frequently during and following procedures for changes in patient’s condition.
- Escorts patients to and from diagnostic studies.
- Cleans and cares for equipment used in oxygen and suction therapy, frame beds and reports equipment in need of repair.
- Performs a range of treatment procedures that include changing simple dressings.
- Cares for patients with infection, communicable diseases and those in infection isolation.
- Cares for patients receiving oxygen via cannula or mask as well as venti-mask, patients with chest therapy and postural drainage.
- Cares for patients with condom catheters as well as indwelling Foley catheters. Administers basic life support measures.
- Verbally provides information to the nurse for inclusion in the Nursing Care Plans. Documents vital signs. Enters information about the patients’ condition in the patients’ chart. Assists with completion of patients’ admission history.
