Job Title: Flagger/Spotter

Reports to: Foreman
Position Summary: As a Flagger/Spotter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain safe traffic control and provide accurate spotting assistance for equipment and vehicles moving throughout the site. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to adhering to safety protocols at all time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and control vehicular and pedestrian traffic to ensure safe and efficient movement within the refinery premises.
- Communicate effectively with equipment operators and drivers to guide them during maneuvers and ensure clear visibility.
- Monitor and maintain awareness of all refinery traffic and operations, promptly identifying and addressing potential safety hazards.
- Assist in the positioning and spotting of vehicles and equipment to facilitate loading, unloading, and movement throughout the site.
- Collaborate with refinery personnel and contractors to coordinate activities and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of designated work areas to ensure they are clear of hazards and properly marked with safety signage.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations or incidents by implementing appropriate safety procedures and protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Proven experience as a flagger or spotter in an industrial or refinery setting preferred.
- Knowledge of traffic control principles, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively direct traffic and communicate with operators.
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Willingness to work in potentially hazardous environments (refinery operations areas) while following safety guidelines.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Possess a valid TWIC card.
- Be able to pass client required drug screens.
- Be able to pass client required background checks.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in flagging and/or spotting operations.
- Basic understanding of refinery operations and safety protocols.
- Experience with radio communication and traffic management systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods.
- Must be willing and able to work in a confined space
- Ability to pass Fit for Duty assessment.
- Ability to pass Client required physical.
