Serenity Senior Living is a small assisted living in a residential home on 3 acres with 10 residents max. We run two staff day and evening shifts. We are a community who wants our residents to thrive and enjoy life! We also want our staff to be able to achieve their goals as well. Serenity Senior Living is privately owned and looking to expand into more homes in Central Texas. We are excited about our journey and hope to find others who want to be a part of it as well.
The position:
Direct Care Attendants provide crucial assistance to residents in completing daily tasks and fulfilling the basic needs of assisted living residents. The Direct Care Attendants are also responsible for supporting clients in achieving their goals and objectives. In addition, Direct Care Attendants assist with housekeeping and laundry duties, mealtime service, and all other duties assigned by the Acting Manager.
Although care varies based on a resident’s unique health circumstances, common responsibilities listed in a direct care worker’s job description include:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Med Delegation-required. We have a contracted nurse who is extremely helpful and med delegates for us.
2.. Complete an orientation during probationary employment period and participate in on-going training in all areas related to Resident care
3. Implement all policies, procedures and protocols required to properly serve Residents
4. Implement Resident Service Plans
5. Provide assistance with ambulation, personal hygiene and all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
6. Have adequate knowledge in:
a. The resident assessment process
b. How to cue, coach, monitor and assist residents who self-administer medications
c. Resident’s rights
d. Infection control, including standard precautions
e. Basic CPR and first aid
f. Emergency evacuation procedures
g. Individual job requirements of all staff
7. Assist Residents with the following functions of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and follow the daily checklist as a general guideline for their shift:
a. General housekeeping and sanitation
b. Cooking and meal preparation
c. Medication management
d. Dressing, personal grooming & hygiene
e. Bathing and shampooing
f. Bed positioning
g. Toileting and bowel/bladder management & incontinence
h. Ambulation and joint protection
i. Provide safety, comfort, and companionship to the residents
8. Other duties as assigned or necessary (Have fun with the residents!)
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be 19 years old or older and of good moral character.
2. Possess a high school diploma or equivalency, or other appropriate education or experience.
3. Must be free from active reportable airborne communicable disease and any impairment that would hinder the performance of the job.
4. Must not have criminal convictions or other criminal history that indicated behavior that may be potentially harmful to residents.
5. Possess a genuine interest in the health and physical needs of the residents living in the facility.
6. Have sufficient skills, training, experience and knowledge to serve the residents in a manner that is consistent with the good practices of assisted living.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
