In this role, you will be the first point of contact for faculty and staff regarding our employee benefits programs. The position will address phone/email inquiries and process transactions. Duties may also include reporting, life events and payroll adjustments in support of the university’s benefits programs. May participate on HR/Benefits project teams.
This position is in a hybrid work environment (i.e., a combination of remote work and at the business site).
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Performs the following activities with regards to servicing the University’s benefit plans.

Provides benefits support by responding to inquiries via email and/or phone regarding benefits questions.

Utilizes various resources to ensure that a complete and accurate answer is provided. Directs internal customers to additional resources, including documented information, reference materials and self-service tools.

Maintains accurate data in HR/payroll System(s) and Benefits system(s).

Maintains an understanding of benefit programs and policies.

Presents benefits information to new employees during orientations.

Develops strong relationships and collaborates with other teams such as payroll, benefits strategy, HR managers, labor relations, leave team.

Understands of university structure and related policies.

Performs occasional project work.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three to five years of Benefits experience.

Prior experience in a large complex environment.

Previous experience in a customer service environment.

Effective and superior verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.

Service-oriented communicator.

Self-motivated individual with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity.

Ability to manage deadlines with attention to detail.

Positive outlook and willing to accept feedback.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and easily adapt to fluctuating workloads and customer needs.

Skilled in understanding and applying applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Superior written and verbal communication skills.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent high school certification. Minimum 1-2 years working with various types of employee benefits/human resources. Web navigation and proficiency experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.)

$22.92 - $35.49 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
