Essential Functions:
Register and admit patients to service area.
Secure information necessary for preparation of required forms.
Collect appropriate fees.
• Verify charges from fee schedule, issue cash receipts, prepare slips and balance cash receipts. • Assist patients by having knowledge of the co-pays / applicable fees, facility, other departments, and administrative services.
Handle cash according to indicated policies and procedures. Initiate and complete Release of Information forms as appropriate.
Print and complete all necessary paperwork, labels and documentation forms for receiving patients for various examinations.
Relay instructions to patients in preparation for examinations.
Maintain required patient statistical records.
Verify patients’ health plan eligibility and answer telephone and routine questions.
Perform log out and distribution of ED Records.
Make follow-up appointments for patients seen in the service area.
Accurately maintain ED logs and documentation forms.
Comply with EMTALA regulations as pertains to job duties.
Must be able to do all clerical work in the Department.
Makes follow-up appointments for patients seen in the ED.

Basic Qualifications:
Testing: PC skills test (able to pass PC skills assessment)
Testing: Medical terminology required (able to pass standardized test)
Must be proficient in word processing.
One (1) year experience within the past two (2) years as a Cashier / Receptionist or Unit Assistant in in an outpatient/inpatient care setting where hanks-on medical/nursing care is delivered is required.
Must have experience in performing detailed, repetitive clerical functions; demonstrating clear, distinct communication skills and legible written communication skills.
Must successfully complete ADT Training, Mainframe, Lotus Notes and / or other computer training programs within the orientation period.
Must possess ability to do accurate simple arithmetic and operate credit card machine.
Demonstrate ability to display and project a courteous and professional demeanor in order to promote congenial interactions; to include effective and proper hone etiquette.
Demonstrate the ability to accurate registration, coding and revenue collection per procedures.
Demonstrate the ability to serve as a conduit for department information.
Must demonstrate attention to detail while effectively dealing with multiple demands.
Demonstrate ability to effectively maintain ED logs and files.
Must be willing to perform other related duties as assigned.
Required to attend scheduled clerical meeting.
Must be able to fulfill the functional and environmental duties of the position- prolonged standing and walking required.
Must maintain proficiencies to work in all ED clerical areas.
Willingness to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment required
