Northern Lights is looking for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) on all shifts. The CNA provides direct personal care to residents following the plan of care to maximize their comfort and quality of life.
Principle Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Northern Lights Services, Inc considers the following principal accountabilities to be the essential functions of the position. Successful job applicants and incumbents will be able to perform these essential functions with or without requested reasonable accommodation.
- Provides quality care and services for all residents assigned in a dignified and respectful manner to allow each resident to function at his or her highest level of independence. Includes assistance with dressing, grooming, bathing, eating, toileting, etc.
- Provides care following the care plan and reports the change of condition that may determine change to the care plan.
- Ambulates or transfers residents using proper equipment, proper body mechanics and techniques.
- Participates in meal service and assists with or feeds assigned residents.
- Participates and assists with follow-up resident assessments/interventions with other staff.
- Keeps the Nurse current on the condition and needs of each resident.
- Communicates with the resident, guardian and family member(s) on the current condition and needs of each resident.
- Assists other staff in providing for the needs of all residents of the facility.
- Attends required training and in-service sessions to meet the required training for certification and the requirements of the facility.
- Attends regular nursing staff meetings as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
- Performs related nursing duties such as infection control, safety projects, etc. as assigned by the supervisor or the Director of Nursing.
- Serves on various committees as requested by the Director of Nursing or Administrator.

- Performs all duties in a professional manner.
- Performs work in an efficient, accurate and timely manner.
- Reports to the immediate supervisor on functions of the position.
- As an effective member of the facility staff team, fosters cooperation and teamwork.
- Abides by all facility rules and regulations.
- Is respectful of the rights of all residents and provides services that will keep residents free from mistreatment.
- Notifies supervisor of questionable resident care or mistreatment.
- Keeps resident, facility, professional and personal matters confidential (includes own salary).
- Is able to work outside of normal working hours as necessary.
- Maintains a neat appearance and pleasant personality and demeanor.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and management.
- Assure resident safety.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Regular attendance as scheduled.
- QA knowledge and involvement.
Qualifications:
- Must be qualified for or be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant. High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Requires ability to positively relate to the needs of the nursing home clients and have a genuine appreciation and interest in older people and those with special needs.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English in a proficient and understandable manner.
- Must be physically able to perform all duties of the position. (See attached Physical Job Profile).
- Must possess ability to make independent decisions in the best interest of the organization.
- Requires patience, tact and willingness to work with and communicate effectively with people regardless of the level at which they are currently functioning.
- Must be able to work effectively with the public under all conditions.
- Must meet the requirements of the criminal background check law.
- Requires regular, punctual attendance and assigned shifts.
- Well groomed, free of communicable disease, a valid driver’s license/reliable transportation, drug screening and criminal record clearance.
