Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School is hiring for a full-time math interventionist for the 2024-2025 school year. This role oversees Tier 2 intervention for students who have been identified as needing intensive academic support. It is also an instructional coach/leadership role meant to provide support in the professional development of math teachers across the school. This role provides both small-group and individualized support and case management services to targeted students, in order to help them achieve academic success in all subject areas. All teachers will be granted a standard prep period plus additional prep time due to our unique Corporate Work Study Program.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Instructional Practice & Student Development
- Plan for instruction of assigned courses in the content area of instruction by developing annual, unit, and lesson plans that are responsive to the individual needs of their students
- Set high expectations for student development and ensure all students develop grade-level proficiency to prepare for success in college
- Design a comprehensive program to support academic, social, emotional, spiritual, physical, moral, and character development of every student. Promote student development of the whole person and helping students understand and live the Ignatian teaching of Cura Personalis
- Identify and remediate subject matter in which students require additional support. Identify and provide extension activities for students who are ready to progress
- Develop interim benchmarks and assessments linked to course standards and work with other faculty and administrators to analyze results and refocus instruction based on student needs
- Differentiate instruction to allow students with differing learning styles to access course content
- Utilize classroom technology to engage students’ learning
- Submit lesson plans when requesting sick or other leave from the classroom
Role-Specific Responsibilities
- Use a variety of assessment data, including grades, NWEA performance, and teacher observations to identify students for intervention
- Use a variety of diagnostic assessments, including [insert names of tools] to determine students’ math needs
- Confer one-on-one with intervention students to set individualized goals and create action plans to meet them
- Provide 1:1 and small-group instruction to intervention students to support the development of their academic habits and math skills (can be pull-out support or push-in)
- Collaborate with content-area teachers to tailor instruction to their classes, receive input on student progress in their classes, and share student strengths, areas of need, and potentially useful strategies for supporting students in a classroom setting
- Observe and coach math teachers using the CRSJ teacher framework, TRU framework, and SVMI strategies and practices to improve student learning and engagement
- Monitor student progress and confer with students one-on-one about ongoing progress
- Use a variety of assessments to measure student growth
- Teach a math intervention/support/lab course for a section of identified 9th graders and another section for identified 10th graders
- Communicate with students’ families about student progress, strengths, needs, and plans for academic support
- Collaborate with math teachers and instructional leaders across the Cristo Rey network
Collaboration
All teachers are expected to participate in the following:
- Serve as an advisor to a small group of students in Prides one day a week; help students to navigate their developmental journey during their time at Cristo Rey
- Serve as a moderator of student clubs and activities or a coach of athletic teams. Serve as a chaperone/leader of field trips, immersion experiences, retreats, Christian Service opportunities, and other activities.
- Participate in regular supervisory duties
- Participates in required substitution responsibilities at least 4 times per semester
- Understand and appreciate the developmental and educational benefits of the school’s Corporate Work Study Program
- Provide feedback and support to the student assistance committee and counseling team to identify and support students who are struggling behaviorally or emotionally. Develop relationships with and meet the individual needs of each student consistent with the school’s belief in cura personalis, or “care for the whole individual”
- Participate in departmental and grade-level meetings to coordinate curriculum across the content area and better understand student needs
- Communicate regularly with parents/families via email or call to share academic progress and develop a supportive home-school relationship
- Participate in two days of office hours or scholar hour after school each school week
Organization-wide Learning & Development
- Understand your own teaching practice as developmental. Utilize available resources from colleagues and external sources to continually reflect on and improve your teaching
- Participate in the school’s professional learning community and instructional coaching, collaborating with colleagues to analyze student work and teaching practice. Help to create a reflective learning organization for both students and adults. Serve as a catalyst for improvement in your own classroom and school-wide.
- Participate in the weekly professional development program.
- Participate in the school’s Adult Faith Formation program, committing to living and supporting the Catholic, Jesuit mission of the school through continuous spiritual and personal growth and by serving as a leader of faith, service, and justice for our students.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serving as a chaperone at some athletic and co-curricular events.
- Serving as a prefect before school, during breaks and lunch times.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal or the Supervisor.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree with relevant major, and have a current, valid California teaching credential or masters degree in the academic field of instruction they will be teaching or be working to obtain the required credential or master’s in the academic field of instruction, and/or professional experience.
- Ability to use teaching technologies, online and in-person.
- Demonstrate expertise in planning and designing standards-aligned and research-based curriculum
- Demonstrate expertise in using data to inform instructional planning and practices
- Demonstrate an ability to collect, interpret, and share academic data
- Demonstrate instructional leadership within the math department as well as across grade levels
- Successful clearance of a background check, CANRA and any other state and federal requirements

SALARY AND COMPENSATION
- Range between $69,629 and $134,259 on a salary schedule based on education and years of experience. Full time employees are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, and retirement. Employees’ premiums are covered for medical, dental and vision at 100% and dependents at 50% if elected. This position is eligible for enrollment in the group voluntary retirement plan – 403b.
