Position Summary
This position will perform tool design and quoting as required as well as work on projects, e.g., safety improvements, efficiency improvements, cost savings, new product launches, process improvements, and day-to-day production support throughout the facility. Activities will also include working with and within the tool-room to see that tooling is maintained and produced in a timely fashion.
Key Position Results:
- Improve plant safety.
- Reduce labor and manufacturing expenses
- New product quoting, tool design, quality documents and gages, and product launches
- Cross training of production support personnel
- Reduce Scrap
- Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead cost leadership projects
- Assist in capital equipment rebuilding or replacement projects.
- Assist with new product manufacturing processes, product drawings, inspection control plans, 1st article submission process capability analysis.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing problems/Continuous improvement projects
- Design / Implementation of safety engineering controls
- Manage engineering documents
Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Strong problem solving skills
- Project planning and timely execution of plan
- Proficient in Solidworks and AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software
- Strong oral and written communications skills, technical writing
- Production manufacturing experience preferred
- Products include aluminum cylinders and hot and cold aluminum forgings
- Industries served include medical, industrial, ordnance, tactical optics, automotive, oil extraction, and heavy equipment.
Education / Training Required
- Associates Degree in Engineering or 3 years of equivalent tool design experience
- AutoCAD and Solidworks experience
- Microsoft Office software experience
- Tool-room experience preferred
