The Dermatology Coding Specialist role is at the heart of our mission, combining in-depth expertise with exceptional client service. Key Responsibilities:
- Coding and Abstraction: Read and abstract physician office and operative notes to accurately apply ICD-10-CM, CPT®, HCPCS Level II, and modifier coding assignments. Code and audit surgical procedures, including excisions, closures, and MOHS.
- Denial Management: Assist with resolution of coding-related denials, including creating and reviewing appeal cover letters.
- Auditing and Compliance: Assist with periodic documentation audits while staying abreast of the changing landscape in dermatology coding.
- Research and Support: Research coding questions and provide supporting resource material for Account/RCM Managers.
- Provider Education: Communicate with providers via video, phone, and email to assist with coding challenges and questions.
- Training and Education: Create coding training documents, white papers, and PowerPoint presentations for staff and provider education.
- Special Projects: Participate in special projects related to dermatology services and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- CPC or equivalent certification (CPC-D or current dermatology coding designation is a plus)
- Strong aptitude for dermatology
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines, including the use of modifiers, NCCI edits, CMS LCD (Local Coverage Determination), and CMS Articles
- Understanding of insurance reimbursement practices and a broad knowledge of revenue cycle management (RCM)
- Excellent customer/client service skills with strong problem-solving abilities
- Proficient computer skills, including the ability to use and navigate Excel with basic formulas
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and colleagues, demonstrating strong team collaboration and clear communication skills

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
