The Data Engineer is responsible for data and data flows for disparate systems organization-wide at Goodwill Central Texas (GCT), including planning and managing data storage in the Azure cloud with emphasis on data security, availability, and quality. A significant part of the role will be in the automation of interactions between systems and the flow of data within the enterprise.
GCT is an exciting and complex organization, and its operating environment requires a diverse and ever-changing number of data sets housed across numerous enterprise systems. The Data Engineer takes their direction from GCT’s VP of Technical Architecture and is a key stakeholder in new software implementations and their corresponding data integrations. This position assists with projects from start to finish in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and facilitates cross-functional teams. Tasks may include gathering and writing business and technical requirements, designing and documenting business processes, selecting technology solutions, and making data available to data analysts. This position is expected to develop and maintain company-wide integrations and can involve work with no and low code tools.

Responsibilities:

Assist with data architectures and models and keeping them aligned with business requirements

Planning and managing the storage of data within Azure
-
Securing data against unauthorized access
-
Data ETL/ELT within Azure, including Data Factories and Azure Synapse
-
Conduct research in the industry and identify trends, solutions and best practices
-
Coding integrations using low-code and REST technologies
-
Responsible for the naming of data structures and entities so that the business meaning is clear
-
Data Modeling and Transformation

Improve data reliability, flexibility, accuracy, and quality

Create Datasets from various sources for reporting/integration
