Jacob & Co is urgently looking for a Logistics Assistant to join and be part of a growing team. In this role, you will work closely with our Logistics Director and Chief Logistics Officer, shadowing them as you gain valuable experience.
A key aspect of this position is proficiency in organizing inbound and outbound freight, particularly valuable cargo shipped via air, in collaboration with various shipping vendors including armored and express couriers, as well as US Custom Brokers.
As a Logistics Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to provide administrative support to the logistics department, coordinating the day-to-day operations of our shipping activities. Your duties will involve handling incoming shipments, documenting inventory, managing outgoing shipments, both internationally and domestically, and overseeing the entire shipping cycle. Additionally, you will be responsible for tracking inventory counts in collaboration with the inventory department and ensuring compliance with US Customs requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately accounting for the location of incoming goods
- Collaborating with overseas offices to track the capacity of outgoing and incoming shipments
- Coordinating with cross-functional departments/offices such as accounting, sales, inventory, and overseas offices
- Ensuring proper inventory control by updating information in collaboration with the inventory team in our internal system
- Packing products for outgoing shipments, whether for express courier or armored couriers
- IMPORTANT: Constantly following up on inbound and outbound freight, both domestic and international, and preparing reports using Excel and Google Sheets
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 1-2 years' experience in the freight forwarding industry
- 1-2 years' experience in luxury industry logistics activities
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and database software such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Monday Board, and Slack
- Experience in shipping and receiving is essential
- Basic knowledge of US Customs requirements in the watch and jewelry industry is a plus
