Full-Time
The Cook is responsible for food preparation that meets or exceeds hospitality and service standards of this community. Prepare all foods to meet quantity and deadline requirements.
- Prepare food items according to menu, recipes, special dietary or nutritional restrictions and number of portions.
- Determine food and supplies needed and coordinate meal production with serving hours.
- Monitor all food items to see that at least the minimum guidelines for temperature, taste, and quality are upheld at all times and record in proper log book.
- Maintain or exceed standards of appearance, cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards.
- Assist with orientation and training of new kitchen employees.
- Practice all safety and loss prevention procedures.
- Responsible for following all local, state, and federal policies regarding food handling.
- Assist with proper documentation of temperature logs, taste panel forms, and cleaning schedules.
- Inspect food preparation and service areas to ensure observance of safe sanitary food handling practices.
Educational Requirements and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a cook preparing full line of menu items
- High school diploma or equivalent
- City of Plano Food Handlers certification or willingness to obtain
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to provide dining service to elderly that meet or exceed hospitality and service standards.
- Ability to work on all holidays, weekends and for pre-planned special events.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to prepare therapeutic/modified diets.
