Wind Tunnel Supervisor, Operator, and Engineer !
Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering (Aerospace preferred) with a minimum of eight years of experience. Masters degree and/or PhD in Aerospace Engineering is a plus. Mechanical or related Engineering Bachelor degree may be considered with compatible work history. Specific experience with aerodynamics testing techniques, wind tunnel design, aerodynamics theory, and force & moment resolution is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills are essential. Automotive background with a broad range of experience, including motorsports vehicle testing and rolling road systems is desired. Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and test data systems. Must speak and write English fluently. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience. The duties will include the following: Serve as the aerodynamics leader, engineer, and operator for the full-scale wind tunnel facility, which shall include.
- Autonomously lead and execute wind tunnel data quality assurance and process control monitoring and testing, real time data analysis, and other supporting activities
- Troubleshoot and isolate problems with aerodynamics testing performance and/or data quality
- Specify and procure additional equipment needed to support specialized aerodynamics testing
- Understand, document, and refine work instructions and test procedures associated with testing
- Identify and implement modifications to data systems, reduction algorithms and procedures for maximum efficiency and data quality
- Identify opportunities for facility upgrades that will improve data quality and/or test efficiency, develop supporting proposals and associated business case, and implement upgrades
- Prepare and maintain the wind tunnel WLTP applications for certification
- Identify potential improvements in test procedures, test capabilities, manpower utilization, tunnel usage, and test scheduling with the goal of providing the best value services to the customer
- Support the continuous improvement and technical communications (publications, presentations, etc.) Serve as a primary customer interface to facilitate successful customer testing at the facility
- oWork with customers to identify, understand, and coordinate test requirements and test plan. Define and execute activities needed to deliver the required customer data in accordance with quality expectations. Responsible for customer satisfaction with wind tunnel test data
- Periodically, will be required to work long hours to meet critical deadlines for customer data. Other duties as required, which could include supporting other off-site wind tunnel projects. The job will be in a state-of-the-art, full scale, rolling road wind tunnel
