Job Title: Financial Accountant

Salary Range: Starting at $70,000 DOE
General Summary
The Financial Accountant will collaborate with the Corporate Controller, accounting staff, and corporate business unit leaders on key initiatives where accounting expertise is required. The Financial Accountant position is responsible for ongoing analysis of process cost components, forecasting, risk analysis, and understanding costs of operational activities as well as general accounting duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work directly with senior finance and accounting officials on appropriate fiscal strategies for a multi-entity, closely-held company with operations in farming, food processing, wine making, plant nursery, and international marketing.
- Study, collect, and prepare, data to determine costs of business activities including production, product acquisition, inventory, and labor management.
- Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices, profitability of products or services, breakeven points, periodic variances and their causes, and analyze capital budgeting.
- Analyze actual production costs and prepare periodic reports.
- Recommend, coordinate, and assist with implementation, improvement and maintenance of internal control and financial systems.
- Collaborate with operation managers and IT department to create automated reporting for management.
- Propose and prepare journal entries as necessary.
- Collaborate with department managers to develop projections and forecasts.
- Prepare, review, and submit financial reports and statements to management.
- Participate in tax preparation and filing for various corporate entities.
- Assist company with on-going general accounting functions.

- High level of proficiency with Excel and data analysis.
- Knowledge of accepted accounting principles, procedures, and applications.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with combined experience in cost accounting and/or management analysis
- At least 2 years of previous accounting experience preferred
- CPA preferred, but not required
- Experience with computerized GL systems; cash management, profitability analysis; project management; data analysis and data modeling
