Background
Helping Hands for Single Moms Dallas is ending generational poverty by assisting low-income single mom families as the mother attains a college education, financial independence, and positive family legacy. As a Christian organization we honor all as we promote the communities we serve.
Our award-winning program has locations in Phoenix and Dallas with a new Houston location launching in early 2025. We provide a suite of services called “Scholarship Plus” to single mom college student families including a monthly stipend, AAA roadside assistance, car repairs, dental care, and professional development through our College Community meetings.
College Community meetings focus on building resilience and confidence through personal and professional training including life skills such as financial literacy, resume writing, interviewing, proper attire, and other competencies. Single moms often feel alone so time with peers, mentoring, and encouragement are essential.
We have provided millions of dollars in scholarships and supportive services to about 3,000 individuals including single moms and their children. Over 500 students have completed our program with a graduation rate of 78%, nearly 10x the single mom college student graduation rate of 8% as cited by the Women’s Policy Research Institute.
