Purpose:
- Operates the Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM).
- Supports production’s validation of continued conformance of production requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform layouts on the CMM and manually measures parts as required as per the Control Plan for the product being produced.
- Make the records of the inspections including SPC and other documentation requirements.
- Gets the correct parts that are required to be measured.
- Loads parts in fixtures as directed and runs the correct CMM program for the task.
- Records the results of the measurements and provides the reports to the Lead Setup Technician or others as required.
- Once measurements and reports are completed, dispositions parts as directed.
- Works with CMM Programmer(s) as required to assure any variances are resolved.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean working environment, in a safe and accurate condition.
- Assures that the required environmental conditions are maintained, recorded and notifies supervisor when the environment fails to meet the laboratory requirements.
- Participate in other value added plant activities as assigned – fill in for departmental setups or production associates, kaizen events, waste reduction projects, clean and shine projects, 8D meetings, etc. Help respond and interact with customers/visitors on plant tours and issues of quality, cost and delivery.
- Work with the Team members, SLPT staff, customers and suppliers on continuous improvement (quality, service and cost control).
- Participate in team problem-solving and improvement initiatives.
- Performs all other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education/Knowledge:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Must possess excellent technical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must possess PC skills such as proficiency in Word, Excel, and other software as required
Experience
- 1 year experience in a production environment including machining, assembly, and test processes
- Must be able to load parts to fixtures as prescribed with reasonable assistance.
- Must be able to learn how to read CMM layout reports and production drawings
- Demonstrate ability to be self-disciplined to work with minimal supervision.
