Job Purpose
A janitor, also known as a custodian or cleaner, is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of buildings, ensuring that they are safe, sanitary, and presentable. The specific job duties of a janitor may vary depending on the size and type of the facility they work in, but generally, their responsibilities include the following:
Essential Functions
1. Cleaning and sanitizing: Janitors are responsible for cleaning various areas within a building, including offices, restrooms, hallways, common areas, and other designated spaces. This involves dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and emptying trash bins. They may also be responsible for cleaning windows, mirrors, and other surfaces.
2. Maintenance and repair: Janitors may perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, and unclogging drains. They may also be responsible for reporting larger maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
3. Stocking and replenishing supplies: Janitors ensure that cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other necessary items are adequately stocked. This may involve monitoring inventory levels, placing orders, and organizing storage areas.
4. Waste management: Janitors handle the proper disposal of trash and recyclable materials. They may collect and separate recyclables, operate compactors or balers, and follow specific waste management protocols.
5. Floor care: Janitors are responsible for the maintenance of different types of flooring, such as carpet, tile, and hardwood. This may involve regular vacuuming, mopping, buffing, waxing, and applying sealants as needed.
6. Safety and security: Janitors may be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the premises. They may lock and unlock doors, monitor surveillance systems, and report any suspicious activities or safety hazards.
7. Specialized cleaning tasks: Depending on the facility, janitors may be assigned specialized cleaning tasks. For example, in healthcare settings, they may need to follow specific protocols for cleaning patient rooms and sanitizing medical equipment.

Working in a secure facility: Lume Cannabis cultivation and processing has strict security measures in place to prevent theft or diversion of cannabis products. This may include cameras, security personnel, and secure entrances and exits.
Work will be performed in a clean and well-ventilated environment: Additionally, a clean environment will be maintained to prevent contamination of the product.
Lume Cannabis has strict safety protocols in place to prevent injury. This includes wearing protective gear such as gloves, masks, and goggles, as well as following proper handling procedures for equipment and chemicals.
It's important to note that cannabis processing can be physically demanding work, and workers may be required to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects.
