Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is a member of the Finance & Accounting department primarily responsible for all accounting aspects of the TrueAero Group companies’ General Ledgers. In doing so, the Staff Accountant applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), tax regulations and appropriate judgment to maintain accurate accounting records to assist with preparing monthly financial statements, annual audit and tax returns.
The Staff Accountant also assists with special projects, elaborates tax schedules, prepares reports and analyses to support the annual audit process and sets up/maintains systems in support of accounting activities and financial statements preparation.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carry out daily accounting activities in preparation of financial statements including, but not limited to, recording accounting transactions, preparing accruals, tracking fixed assets and depreciation, processing journal entries and performing detailed GL account reconciliations.
- Prepare financial statements of multiple legal entities.
- Adhere to month-end financial closing, processes and schedules.
- Track billable expenses and billback lessees, lessors and affiliated companies as applicable.
- Manage and process all entries for consignment inventory. Prepare and publish detailed consignment reports for internal and external use.
- Review and ensure accuracy of margins on parts sales and services. Prepare detailed analysis and process adjustments as needed, monthly.
- Prepare schedules, and detailed explanations, to fulfill the annual financial audit requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assist with the annual budget cycle. Report monthly on variance to budget, including detailed explanations.
- Review and submit preliminary financial statements for Senior Accountant’s review and Controller's approval.
- Support the implementation and further development of systems, with special focus on efficiency and internal controls.
- Perform other activities as requested.
Experience, Skills and Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related area.
- 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- High level proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of analytical tools. i.e., Tableau, Power BI, Access, etc. is a plus.
- Previous experience successfully handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Previous experience with data processing and visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, etc).
- Previous experience in the aviation industry and full financial audit preferred.
- Previous experience as a key stakeholder in ERP implementation is a plus.
- Previous experience with lease accounting is a plus.
