We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Junior Multi-Asset Trader to join our Securities Finance team with Global Markets. This role is located in New York City, NY - HYBRID
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Interface with borrowers and BNY Mellon’s global securities lending trading desks to optimize revenue by effectively lending client securities in accordance with client, bank, and regulatory guidelines.
- Negotiate with borrowers to price transactions based on market supply and demand factors with the ability to make prompt decisions and react to daily market changes.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with borrowers and internal partners including global trading desks, trade support, product and client servicing teams.
- Monitor the trading book closely and ensure effective risk management to avoid any exposure to both BNY Mellon and clients, particularly around corporate actions and liquidity management in those markets with punitive settlement regimes.
- Understand business flows, market dynamics and requirements to maximize utilization / spreads / revenue.
- Manage Investment of GBP, USD and EUR Cash for client portfolio’s, in line with client investment guidelines and overriding BNYM risk and credit parameters, to maximize returns.
- Trade execution in money market products such as reverse repo, commercial paper, certificates of deposit, sovereign debt and credit bonds.
- Work closely with operations teams to minimize all risk situations. Liaise with trade support, collateral and corporate actions teams to promote efficiencies throughout the trading process.
- Provide analytical support to senior traders to help maximize return from BNY Mellon’s lending portfolio. Analyse and interpret data, in order to make, support, and articulate trading decisions.
- Assist the trading team in the review, integration and deployment of new and existing technology tools to further automate trading processes.
- Evaluate client portfolios for the purposes of performance reviews and future revenue estimates.
- Understand & optimize impact of trades on business metric ROC/RWA.
Assist and help to produce and provide market commentary to client facing peers or direct to clients.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following :
- Math & Economics A levels or equivalent Degree.
- Minimum one year experience in financial markets.
- IMC Qualification to be achieved in the first year of employment.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $78,000 and $136,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
