Reporting directly to the Title V DHSI Project Director, the HICP Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact between the University and our community stakeholders and other non-profit organizations, ensuring the promotion of Elmhurst University’s status as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and the work being done in El Centro de la Promesa Azul with the delivery of campus resources. In addition to community engagement and outreach, an important part of the role will be mentoring of student looking to pursue High-Impact Practices (HIPs), collaborating with university partners, and coaching students on the importance of HIPs will be crucial to success in this role.
The HICP Coordinator will support the administration of the High-Impact Practice (HIP) Fund to support underserved students’ participation in opportunities such as study abroad, undergraduate research, internships, service-learning, and more by allowing greater access and reducing barriers to participation.
In addition, the HICP Coordinator serves as the bridge between key community organizations and the university, facilitating lively connections and fostering engagement with external stakeholders, with a particular focus on Hispanic community-based organizations.
This position is a member of El Centro de la Promesa Azul staff, under the Office of Equity and Inclusion and is funded by the Title V DHSI (Developing Hispanic Serving Institutions) Grant awarded to Elmhurst University through AY 2027.

High-Impact Practice Fund Support
- Act as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and staff when they need support understanding the guidelines of the HIP Fund, the high-impact practices available, and facilitate greater access for students.
- Foster strong relationships by working closely with the WCPE Career Center, Service-Learning Director, undergraduate research faculty, Student Financial Services staff, and the Office of Global Engagement to provide ongoing support, addressing concerns promptly, leading to an increase of student participation in HIPs.
- Administer and track allocated funds from the HIP Fund, ensuring students have the necessary support and financial resources to participate in HIPs and are well informed of the financial implications.
- Utilize Navigate (student management system) and Microsoft Suites for organized project management, ensuring attention to detail and adaptability to fast-paced shifts.
- Develop informational workshops for students and families to introduce Elmhurst’s high-impact practice opportunities, the HIP Fund, and the benefits of these experiences.
Community Outreach Support
- Build and facilitate meaningful partnerships and collaborations between Elmhurst University and the growing Hispanic community in Will, DuPage County, and the greater Chicagoland area to improve college access and provide resources for underrepresented students.

Facilitate engagement and the planning of campus visits from community partners to meet the goals above.
- Support Elmhurst to diversify its external networks, benefitting hiring, service learning and internship opportunities, and professional networking for faculty and students.
- Collaborate with Elmhurst’s Admissions, Human Resources, Equity and Inclusion, Alumni Affairs, and Advancement offices to coordinate engagement with, and build upon existing external relationships.
- Serve as the point of contact with community stakeholders and off-campus resources to guarantee community access and engagement.
- Collaborate with El Centro staff to plan and promote efforts to increase family engagement through our Family University Program.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or related field
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
- Experience in community engagement in a social service, non-profit, or higher education setting
- Cultural competence with a demonstrated commitment to DEI
- Sensitivity to and understanding of a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications, Canva, and/or other graphic design tools
- Excellent written/verbal communication
- Strategic and analytical thinking with strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- MA/MS in education, Higher Education, or a related field with a background in Curriculum Instruction and Design, college teaching, educational leadership, training and development, and project management and design
- A strong understanding of student development theory, student engagement theory and literature, high-impact practices, and curriculum development and design
- Project management skills
- Demonstrated competence in print and digital marketing
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
