Summary:
The Chief Engineer will report to the General Manager and is responsible for all building and grounds maintenance and renovation along with management and supervision of the maintenance team. Also responsible for safety and security within the building and grounds.
Essential Functions:

Conduct daily property walk-through and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment. Arrange plans for repairs of issues discovered.
- Verify completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back of the house spaces, and grounds. Verify completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and employee work area.
- Training/ development and supervise the TEAM
- Discipline department staff and all other staff under direction of the Engineering Department.
- Adhere to all corporate-required purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to, all outside contractor bids, budgets, and schedules.
- Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and OSHA.
- Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel.
- Inform the General Manager and hotel department heads on a regular basis regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems, and equipment offering prudent, cost effective proposals for maintaining these systems.
- Prepare departmental work schedules, edit punches, process payroll, living within budget
- Obtain bids for cap ex projects
- Manage departmental checkbook
- Prepare weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual brand required reports. Maintain input of information in Service Pro.
- Take equipment readings and samples to ensure all systems are operating correctly. Take action to repair issues discovered.
- Train team in making repairs throughout the building to various systems.
- Perform general repairs and maintenance as required.
Education and Experience:

Three years of experience in a hotel setting required.
- Requires advanced knowledge of the practices relative to building and grounds maintenance.
- High School education or equivalent experience. Trade school experienced preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to repair and maintain various pieces of building and grounds equipment. Ability to train others in these same repairs.
