Position Summary
As a Warehouse employee, you are responsible for receiving, processing, and stocking inbound shipments from suppliers, as well as stock transfers from other branches. You will pull, package, and stage outbound orders for delivery or shipment. You will help keep various stock areas in good condition and assist with general housekeeping. You will assist with inventory control tasks such as cycle-counting and resolving discrepancies.
Responsibilities
Responsible for thoroughly processing Columbia’s requests for product pick items covering scheduled majors, one-offs, and customer part sales. Manage the counter and attend to the details of Columbia’s needs with enthusiasm, genuine sense of urgency, exacting thoroughness, and a high degree of professionalism. Handle receiving and stocking of inbound shipments from McGuire and FCP. Handle pulling, packaging, and staging of orders for Columbia. Maintain stockroom areas in good, clean condition. Assist with inventory control tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Functional knowledge of inventory layout.
- Basic product knowledge.
- Communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to lift 70 lbs.
- Attention to detail.
- Multi-task oriented.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude preferred.
- Previous power transmission and fluid power experience preferred.
- Completion of the Browning course, McGuire Bearing and FCP training course.
- Knowledge of McGuire & FCP computer systems.
- Good math and organizational skills.
- Possess good people skills.
DETAIL OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
RESPONSIBILITY #1: General
- Perform your job responsibilities consistent with Columbia Store’s mission and vision statements and guiding principles.
- Comply with all company rules including Columbia Machine’s policies and procedures.
- Be flexible and work overtime with little or no notice to meet customer requirements.
- Maintain a high level of cooperation between all external and internal customers.
RESPONSIBILITY #2: Customer Service/Inside Sales
- Assist counter customers promptly and courteously.
- Help the customer get what they need, regardless of what they ask for.
- Greet all customers in a friendly manner and treat them with respect and courtesy.
- Develop positive rapport with customers.
- Be creative and positive in order to inspire customer confidence.
- Respond to customer requests in an appropriate and timely manner.
RESPONSIBILITY #3: Order Management & Pulling/Staging Orders
- Process orders thoroughly and accurately.
- Coordinate efforts with appropriate departments and personnel to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Receive returned merchandise from customers and write up documentation within 24 hours.
- Maintain accurate and legible customer files when appropriate.
- Maintain catalog file on products.
- Keep up to date on new products.
- Read and accurately follow shipping and handling instructions.
RESPONSIBILITY #3 CONT: Order Management & Pulling/Staging Orders
- Check for special instructions.
- Clarify any order with vague or incomplete instructions with Columbia Representative.
- Fill orders from stock.
- Verify that the correct item and quantities were picked and staged.
- Verify that the order was staged in the correct location to fulfill the shipping instructions.
- Package the order for shipping with regard for prevention of loss and damage.
- Complete documentation.
- Verify that all orders have been shipped on schedule.
RESPONSIBILITY #4: Receiving & Stocking
- Off-load trucks and deliveries as they arrive.
- Inspect the goods for damage and verify count quantities.
- Sign-off delivery receipt, if required. (Note exceptions, if necessary).
- Check in branch transfers, UPS shipments, and truck shipments by priority.
- Resolve discrepancies and manage non-conforming product.
- Ensure that each shipment processed is properly tagged and placed in stock promptly after check-in.
- Verify that all necessary notations are made on the paperwork and turn it in for processing.
RESPONSIBILITY #5: Inventory Management
- Complete cycle count as directed by schedule & procedure.
- Perform the actual count as directed by procedure.
- Turn the completed report into appropriate personnel upon completion.
- Assist in regular transfer of stock from secondary to primary stock locations.
- Assist in identification and resolution of inventory problems/discrepancies.
RESPONSIBILITY #5 CONT: Inventory Management
- Help as needed with overhaul and reorganization of stock areas needing improvement.
RESPONSIBILITY #6: Other Duties
- Keep all shipping supplies organized, accessible and well stocked.
- Process all manifests, waybills, and internal reports in a timely manner and store them in the appropriate locations.
- Follow up on any discrepancies and/or problem orders promptly, and ensure that each situation has been resolved.
- Keep current with general housekeeping tasks such as clearing aisles, cleaning floors, stocking and recycling.
- Operate all warehouse machinery and company vehicles in a safe and appropriate manner.
