About the Role
The Sr. Technical Designer is responsible for the on-time development of denim and non-denim bottoms, ensuring products meet company standards for aesthetic, fit, cost, and quality. Work with the Design, Product Development, and Technical Design teams, whose responsibilities include managing the successful launch of all new products. This position includes responsibilities ranging from technical design and fit management to building products that meet company gross margin objectives and achieving deliverables during the go-to-market cycle.

- Creating product specifications, including full graded measurements and detailed technical sketches.
- Building and maintaining a best-in-class fit portfolio: research competitive products, create patterns for new fits, and craft new construction techniques.
- Responsible for fit consistency and monitoring factory utilization of blocks.
- Managing commercialization process: track samples, schedule fitting, review, and measure prototypes/sales samples for workmanship, construction, fit, and production feasibility, and communicate with cross-functional teams and factories.
- Leading fit sessions and communicate fit corrections and pattern changes with factories from prototype through production.
- Monitoring and managing product development timelines to meet the department's goals.
- Maintaining the accuracy of product specs and fit comments throughout the pre-production process.
- Striving for continual improvement that drives product and process enhancements.
- Mentoring and communicating processes, procedures, and technical skills to the Tech Design assistant.
- Collaborating with business partners to gain clear direction and consensus of fit intent.
- Fostering an open communication and team environment with all business partners.
- Performing these and other duties as assigned.
About You
- 15+ years of experience in denim and non-denim adult bottoms in technical Design/Product Development.
- Mastery in fit and patternmaking: in-depth knowledge of denim construction manufacturing methods and grading.
- Expertise in understanding physical fit; evaluation of body size, shape, and the relationship of clothing on the target body.
- Able to proactively troubleshoot and utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate a solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and product development lifecycle.

- Proven track record for cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders, resulting in high customer satisfaction.
- Self-motivated and can work in a fast-paced, result-oriented team environment.

- Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, and work independently under supervision.
- Fast acting and capable of adapting quickly to change.
- Proficient use of Adobe Illustrator, MS Office, Word, and Excel; Knowledge of PLM and patternmaking systems (Accumark) is a plus.
- BA or BS preferred.

The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $105,000 per year.
The salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data for geographic locations. Ariat in good faith believes that this posted compensation range is accurate for this role at this location at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
