Building Engineer
Position Summary:
The Building Engineer will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all building systems within our high-rise commercial properties. This includes HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and especially plumbing systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in high-rise commercial building environments and a proven track record in handling complex plumbing tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
Plumbing Systems Management:
- Inspect, maintain, and repair plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, and water heating systems.
- Respond to plumbing emergencies promptly to minimize damage and downtime.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant plumbing codes and standards.
General Building Maintenance:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Conduct regular building inspections to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs.
Operational Support:
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the building management team.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all building operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Implement and adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all building occupants and staff.
- Participate in safety training and drills as required.

Education, Experience and Skills Required
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in plumbing or building systems is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Building Engineer, with at least 3 years in a high-rise commercial building setting.
- Extensive hands-on experience with plumbing systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and mechanical.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
Certifications:
- Relevant certifications in plumbing, HVAC, or building engineering are highly desirable.
- EPA certification for handling refrigerants is a plus.

Physical Demand Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions (indoors, outdoors, mechanical rooms).

Other Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with good driving record.
- Ability to safely install and operate rigging and lifting devices.
- Ability to interact with co-workers, tenants, contractors, and the general public in a positive and professional manner
- Will be required to work evenings; holidays and weekends to ensure coverage
