Mass Timber Erector with Carpentry

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter to work as a Mass Timber Erector to support the erection of a construction project in Cypress, Texas. This position will report to the StructureCraft Builders Site Superintendent or Project Manager to deliver high quality wood structures safely, on time and on budget.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fully comply with StructureCraft, OH&S and Contractor safety requirements.
- Efficient and safe material receiving, offloading, staging, installation, site finishing and deficiency correction.
- Assemble and install mass timber elements, including panels, beams, columns, CLT (cross-laminated timber) and DLT (Dowel-laminated timber) components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical drawings to determine the accurate layout and construction sequence.
- Measure, cut, and shape timber components to exact specifications using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery – should it be necessary.
- Ensure that the installation fully complies with the project specifications, the erection drawings and tolerances. Obtain written direction from the StructureCraft Engineer for any deviations from StructureCraft drawings. Fully understand the StructureCraft scope of work and promptly notify the Site Superintendent of any delays, changes or out of scope work.
- Perform required maintenance for field equipment to increase utilization rates and reduce repair costs.
- Provide input on improvements on all aspects of our projects including but not limited to design, fabrication, transportation or installation.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
- Work closely with other construction professionals, including engineers, steel erectors, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of timber and other structural components.
- Address any issues or discrepancies on-site promptly and efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to the construction schedule.
Job Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in the erection of multistory buildings
- Thorough understanding of efficient crane placement and utilization
- Carpentry training
- Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in carpentry, with specific experience in mass timber construction preferred.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction blueprints and plans. Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and joinery methods.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights.
- Keen eye for detail to ensure precision in measurements, cuts, and installation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and other construction professionals.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or apprenticeships in carpentry or a related field is preferred.
- Can speak and communicate in English both verbally and written.
Preferred Candidate will have:
- Journeyman Carpentry certification
- Mass Timber experience
- Rigging experience
Project Duration: Approximately September to end of November 2024
Schedule: Monday to Saturday, 8 hour shift
Wage: $40-$50 per hour
