Job Specifications and Education: Ability to read, write and follow simple oral and written instruction. No formal education required.
Work Experience: Previous similar work experience desirable but not required. Will receive on the job training.
Physical Demands: Stands and walks majority of working day. Lifting and carrying equipment, furniture and supplies, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, turning, and crouching required. Pushes and pulls brooms, mops, buffing machines and wet/dry vacuum. Must be in good physical health.
Working Conditions: Works indoors and outdoors. Exposed to housekeeping solutions and disinfectants. Subject to frequent interruptions. May be exposed ( irregularly) to infection when entering patient's rooms . Exposed to electrical and mechanical hazards.
Responsibilities: Cleanliness and servicing of assigned areas, care of cleaning equipment, efficient use of soaps, waxes, and similar supplies. Neat, personal appearance, and cooperates with other employees. Pleasant, tactful and courteous when around residents. Follows orders as directed and complies with facility policies.
Material and Equipment Used: Common tools, stripping and buffing machine, wet/dry vacuum, ladders, light bulbs, brushes, brooms, mops, wringers, soap, polish, stripping solution, disinfectants, paper supplies, routine housekeeping solutions.
Main Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain floors in hallways, day rooms, offices, nursing stations and dining rooms (buffing, stripping, waxing, sweeping, mopping as directed).
- Strip, wax, and buff patient rooms as directed
- Cleans glass doors and windows as required
- Hang cubicle curtains, sand window curtains as required
- Maintains good working relationship with staff, patients, and their families
- Attends all called and pre-set meetings as needed and required
- Evaluates staff and makes recommendations as needed.
- Directs and supervises functions and personnel of housekeeping and laundry department
- Carry out facility policies and procedures, and follow directions of Administrator
- Insures new employees received adequate orientation and on-the-job training to be able to perform their job functions
- Treats all employees in the same fair way, according to personnel policies of the facility.
- Sets an example of high moral character, dignity, calmness, courtesy and tact to everyone.
