OneHealth Primary Care is currently looking for a qualified Medical Assistant for our Clearwater office location. The right candidate must have experience in a busy medical office environment setting, preferably Managed Care. This position requires someone who leads by example and influences others to work together to meet the needs of our patients as well as providers.
MA Job Description:
- Protects patient confidentiality/Follows HIPAA guidelines and regulations
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider/nurse of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays
- Comfort patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining cleanliness of clinical areas
- Ensure availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
- Preparing electronic and written correspondence
- Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patients' arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff
- Responds to patients', prospective patients, and visitor inquiries in a courteous manner
- Review patient schedules for the day and plan accordingly
- Make sure all medical equipment is on and working, properly charged
- Set up rooms in regards to supplies, and equipment for the day
- Ensure the cleanliness of rooms, clean between every patient and at days end.
- Room patients to include vital signs, update medical record as it pertains to the MA role, obtaining proper consents for procedures when necessary, prepare patient for exam
- Medication reconciliation
- Facilitate all incoming triages and follow up out reach
- Administer injections, basic wound care, lab draws, PFT’s, EKG’s, assist providers with exams or procedures if needed
- Knowledge of and Ability to work with Athena EMR
- Understand and perform medication refills as directed by the provider
- Ability to prioritize tasks and assignments
- Ability to communicate results to patients
- Basic triage skills
- Understanding of the use of PPE and proper use
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintains an organized and clean work area
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
- Ability to work independently
Physical and Mental Demands:
-Able to stand or walk for long periods of time

- Normal concentration & decision making skills
- High level communications skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Hours:
- Monday thru Friday 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM.
Education, training, knowledge:
- Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant school
- Registered or Certified as a Medical Assistant
- Proficient in phlebotomy
- Knowledge of Athena EMR is a plus
- Familiar with Medicare & Medicare Advantage Plans a plus
