SUMMARY
This position performs metrology engineering support including inspections and determining measurement methodology. The position also maintains the calibration system, scheduling of laboratory workflow and working with production and engineering to ensure metrology support for all new projects and tooling transfers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/AUTHORITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Perform dimensional inspections per established procedures. This includes preparation of samples, use of fixturing, operation of equipment, recording and reporting of measurement data.
2. Programming automated measurement equipment not limited to coordinate based video, laser or touch probe as new equipment is introduced into the lab.
3. Maintenance of programs in line with plant established metrology methodology.
4. Participates in design review of fixturing for metrology needs.
5. Develop measuring instruments to ensure product specifications and implement quality control guidelines.
6. Manages calibration program through Gage Pack, aligning outside calibration services as needed. Able to implement all customer specific requirements related to calibration.
7. Ensures all measurement equipment installed in manufacturing equipment remains calibrated.
8. Directs, conducts and ensures records of the Measurement System Analysis (MSA) programs in all departments.
9. Ensures that the lab participates in all new product introductions, tooling transfers and environmental activities as pertain to lab functions.
10. Assists in the failure analysis process by providing the current lab competencies in that area.
11. Redesigns or adjusts measurement capability to minimize errors.
12. Supports and fosters active participation in and complies with corporate values as outlined in the Corporate Values and Expectations Handbook.
13. Complies with Company and area safety policies and practices.
14. Identify nonconformities and take appropriate action per defined procedures.
15. Assists with implementation of the Company quality system.
16. Assists and ensures all test lab documents are maintained to be current and accurate.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
1. Ability to perform advanced math including comprehension of formulas, algorithms, and trigonometry for programming.
2. Have up-to-date and extensive knowledge of manufacturing and production.
3. Have a keen attention to detail
4. Can think logically and make sound decisions in high-stress situations.
5. Can assess and effectively measure quality and performance
6. Has excellent communication skills
7. Can work well with other people from different fields and specializations
8. Is technologically savvy and can quickly master computer software and native programs
9. Demonstrated proficiency in the use and application of SPC, including understanding variation, control, stability, process capability and over adjustment.
10. Must be capable of making independent decisions based on the evaluation of the quality relationship of the product or process.
11. 4 -5 years of Experience of Programing, setting up and operating CMM.
12. Two- or four Degree in Engineering, Quality Technology, Electronics, or related field preferred.
13. Strong analytical skills, communication skills, and programming skills
14. Understand the concepts of accuracy, precision, repeatability, reproducibility, bias, and linearity.
15. Meets minimum level of education or training requirements related to functional responsibility.

- Working understanding of ISO9001, IATF16949, ISO17025, ISO14001 and VDA 6.3.
10. Is competent to administer MSA plant wide.
JOB CONDITIONS
This position works in the lab. This position could be performed on all shifts during all hours, as the department may need to function around the clock.

Pay: $88,500.00 - $90,000.00 per year
