Medical Procedure Scheduler
SUMMARY
Per practice guidelines, schedules patient procedures as ordered by the providers in an efficient and professional manner. Explain prior preparatory requirements for the ordered procedure and provide all information necessary to ensure a high quality experience for the patient.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Greets patients in the office and via telephone in a friendly, caring, and professional manner
· Schedule all procedures ordered in an accurate and efficient manner
· Explains prior preparatory requirements in person and provides patient with a packet containing pertinent information specific to that procedure.
· Ensures that all orders remain current, pre-cert requests are forwarded and applicable notes are entered
· Knowledge of the insurance benefit verification process to communicate applicable physician and facility benefit estimates provided by an applicable software program to the patients in a thorough and professional manner
· Collects applicable physician and facility responsibility preferably at the time of scheduling, posts payments collected into the practice EMR software, and obtain patient signature to acknowledge the amount due three days prior to the scheduled day of procedure
· Consistently reviews and maintains physician schedules, and keeps open lines of communication regarding any schedule changes or issues with the applicable staff members
· Answering and/or appropriately routing all calls, voicemails and addresses telephone encounters on a daily basis consistently
· Completes accurate daily closing procedures and balances all patient collections received at the end of each day.
· Responsible for maintaining all supplies needed for job function
