Job Title: Fiber Optic Technician
Key Responsibilities:
Installation: Install fiber optic cables in various settings, including underground conduits, aerial locations, and within buildings.
Splicing: Perform precise splicing of fiber optic cables to ensure seamless connectivity and signal integrity.
Testing: Utilize equipment such as Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDR) to test and troubleshoot fiber optic cable installations, ensuring optimal performance.
Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on fiber optic networks to ensure reliable operation.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, splicing, and testing results. Ensure all work complies with industry standards and regulations.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in fiber optics preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing.
Skills:
Proficiency in using fiber optic tools and equipment.
Strong understanding of fiber optic theory and standards.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor settings, and to perform tasks that require physical strength and endurance.
