Job Purpose
This position will be responsible for supporting the needs of bus operations and assuring that the maximum level of service is provided to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Provides exemplary customer service to both internal and external customers through effective communication, performance management and by personal example
- Inspects all in-service vehicles to ensure they are maintaining their headway, to include analyzing running times, frequency needs, passenger loads, and time point checks *GPS used as a tool for schedule adherence.
- Checks for proper display of signs and conducts speed checks.
- Responds to radio calls concerning accidents and incident investigations, breakdowns, passenger and bus operator problems and route or service interruptions.
- Fills vacant operator work assignments if needed.
- Communicates and coordinates with operators and dispatchers by two-way radio. Handles service emergencies.
- Assists in the safety/training of bus operators and dispatchers.
- Provides leadership, enthusiasm and a "can-do" attitude to ensure the success of the location.
- Provides constructive counseling including commendations and criticism to bus operators when necessary.
- Resolves conflicts that arise in a calm, tactful and courteous manner.
- Interacts with co-workers as a leader and team player; works effectively in a diverse environment.
- Reviews daily bulletins, detours, events and policy changes.
- Ensures the completion of incident, accident and daily reports.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
- Maintains Confidentiality on issues that may arise in daily job functions
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent,
Experience: Previous professional driving experience required, previous customer service experience, experience working with persons with disabilities and/or senior citizen groups. Safe driving record and clean criminal history.
Licenses: Valid Florida driver's license (Class A or B with Passenger Endorsement), must
meet county requirements for obtaining chauffer credentials
Knowledge, Skills, &Abilities:
- Must pass a DOT physical examination and drug screen.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language clearly
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint etc
- Ability to provide constructive feedback on performance and skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work flexible shifts.
Working Conditions
Primarily works on the road/service access roads in busy commuter environment providing operational support. Must be available for shift work which includes nights, weekends and Holidays
