VETERINARY ANATOMY TECHNICIAN
This is a full-time position that occasionally may require flexible working hours (early morning starts, late evenings, weekends and statutory holidays, mainly during exam day preparation). The duties of the veterinary anatomy technician are primarily associated with the operational and technical support needs of the instructional activities that take place in the anatomy area. The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated individual who demonstrates certain competencies including:

- Good oral and written communication skills
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains inventory and orders the purchase of all learning materials, instruments, equipment and supplies needed in the anatomy laboratory.
- Assists in the embalming of animal cadavers and the preparation of tissues to be used in the anatomy courses of the DVM program.
- Prepares in advance and sets up resources needed for the instructional activities scheduled in the anatomy laboratory.
- Prepares chemical solutions for the preservation of organs and other teaching specimens.
- In accordance with environmental and health safety regulations maintains an inventory and material safety data sheets of all chemicals used and/ or stored in the anatomy area.
- Disposes all waste generated in the anatomy laboratory using approved waste disposal methods.
- Together with all anatomy instructors provides oversight and shares responsibility for the safety of every individual working in the anatomy laboratory.
- Complies and enforces compliance with all standard operating procedures (SOPs) that regulate activities in the anatomy area.
- Maintains the orderliness and cleanliness of the anatomy laboratory and associated rooms (specimen and formalin storage rooms, specimen preparation room).
- Performs basic routine maintenance and general repairs of standard anatomy equipment and instruments.
- Schedules specialized maintenance service or repair of instruments or equipment as required.
- Maintains a variety of records, databases and log books pertaining to equipment maintenance and availability of anatomy learning resources.
- Occasionally assists in the pathology area.
- Performs other necessary duties as required.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent with one year of relevant experience; a degree in Animal Health Technology or equivalent technical knowledge is preferred.
- Physical ability and endurance to lift at least 50 pounds and withstands the demands of the job which includes heavy lifting and standing for long periods of time.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google workspace (email/docs/sheet/drive etc.)
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which may include safety glasses, lab coat/ coveralls, gloves, respirators, face shields and rubber boots.
- Familiarity with anatomy, medical terminology and experience with embalming cadavers are preferable.
